V 222 Mainsail bolt rope and pin,

I just bought a Venture 222. It has the original main sail and boom. I find that when the bolt rope is slid into the boom the eye at the mast end is too high to get a pin through the holes in the boom slot. But all equipment is original. So, what am I missing? Help!John M. Moe

You might have the same problem as I do with my V222. Someone changed the end that fits into the bolt slide on the boom and overlooked a part on the boom. I don't know for sure, but I think it should be the same as the one for my V21, which has an aluminum cap with the reefing swivel in it, and also two short "ears"? sticking up-threaded one side and a small s/s eye bolt. This is what gives it the height to line up with the eye in the sail. A genuine inconvenience without it. MG
