I am looking at a MacGregor to purchase and I know how to launch from a ramp, but how do you lauch when you get to a port with only a hoist or crane to put in? what do you tie to?

lift boat hoist fork lift

Difference between 25 and 26 is super critical here. 25 has lead keel, and trailer had bunks front to back. 26 was waterbalast, and trl bunks were in a V at the daggerboard point, and just after the drain / fill valve. I would do A LOT of research before you try to lift it out of the water. if you have the water balast, I'd try to blow the balast with air pressure 1st. given a choice, I think I'd go for straps, rather than a forklift type of lift. be really carefull. Do it wrong, and she just could crack like an egg. on the other hand, just get a good lawyer and go for it.

Thank you.

If the boat is a 25 is that the easier since there is no water ballast or do I have equal problems with either?

sling lift

At my marina the only way to launch is by sling. I have a Mac 26D and there is no problems with going in, or coming out. The guys that run the lift just lift my boat more slowly and let the water run out. It's interesting because alot of people think all that water coming out is because of damage. I have to tell them thats the way it is.

With tongue in cheek

When I pull the 26S out of the water the drain is open. It sits there on the ramp going like a cow and people will ask. "Where's all that water coming from"? I just quietly say, "I'm draing my holding tank"! Most people just look at me and walk away. Steve

Steve, that's awesome. :) I can just imagine someone getting their panties in a huge bunch because of you telling them that.

Hook 'em

Mike, Justin, please feel free to use it. The more people we can hook the better. We do try to have a good time. Steve
