As a new owner of a 25.5, I'm considering upgrading to a roller furling headsail. I'd like to do it myself. (But probably use Sail Care to modify the headsail.) Which ones can be DIY installed? Is it a difficult task? Thanks in advance, Bill

Did it this spring

Morning Bill, I self installed a CDI FF2 on my Hunter 240 this spring. It wasn't too bad. The provided instructions left a lot to be desired. Nice addition to the boat. The upgrade was definitely worth the $$$.

I did it on a H26...

...also with a CDI FF2. Installing the furler was straightforward. The hardest part was straightening the foil, which comes in a 36" diameter coil; I only had one helper, and two would have been better. Replacing the hanks with luff tape was a little tricky; the webbing at the tack and head were too much for my sewing machine. I sewed all the parts in between, then took it to a local upholstery shop for the ends (no sail lofts in Gainesville.) I still have to add the sunbrella UV panels to the leach and foot. If you're going to do this you need to get SailRite's how-to CD ($14; link below). I also bought the luff tape from them, but not the sunbrella.
