I have a 1981 S-2 8.0 B and I do not want to spend a fortune for a new sail as I only use the boat for weekend sails and light cruising. I have concerns about contacting the "used sail" guys as it seems that they generally just modify a sail that they may have around and this takes time and time is money.

My S-2 has a Harken MK-II roller furling so the luff edge will have to have a plastic edge that will fit into the "foil" on the furling......I I will have to have it sewn on.

Is there a place where S-2 users possibly sell their lightly used sails that I could contact. I believe I can buy a new sail for about $900 - $1,000 but I don't want to spend that much is I don't have to .

I appreciate any comments or help......if you have a sail available, let me know as well.

Thank you

Hi FineGold,

I also own an 8.0B. One of the best things I discovered about the boat is that the mainsail dimensions are pretty much spot on to that of the J22. Lucky for me here in Texas we have a thriving J22 Class. So, I picked up a very nice main for cheap and have been running around the lake with it all Spring.

Although they are really short on the hoist, I also have been using J24 jibs on the boat. We get a lot of wind here, so the loss of sail area is not that big of a deal. I don't have a furler.

I would search the J22 Class website Classifieds for a main.

Cheers!
