The mast height of the 36c is 45'6" from the deck and 50'6" from the water line. the 37c mast should be at least 7' longer than the 36c so Ed. is right on the money with 52'

So once I get the mast... how do you order the rigging? How do you figure lengths?

Exact measurements assume that you have the original chainplates in the original locations. If you do then I have the measurements to within a 1/4", close enough for any turnbuckle. Those lengths are posted here: http://hunter.sailboatowners.com/in...&cat_id=38&aid=7938&page=article&mn=37-cutter . I can get the lengths of the baby stay(mid-stay) and running backstays. They are hanging in the garage. In fact they all are except the forestay.

If you are uncomfortable with the numbers you can do what I did with my forestay. When I ordered it I was unsure of the length. I got it a couple of inches long and did not have the stud swagged on. I will do that at the marina with their machine.

Ed I will add those measurement to my note book... next spring when I order my mast I'll get in touch about what to order... no need to measure up the stuff in your garage unless you have the time!?
Happy Saturday btw.

I need to update that "Mods" post with the baby stay and running backstay lengths. Also know that I purchased my new rigging from Seco South in Florida. So they have the numbers. I sent my old rigging to them and they copied it. My old rigging is yours for the cost of shipping. No turnbuckles, just the wire with ends. It all appears solid, no burrs and no stress cracks in the terminals. I just thought it was time.

My mast was made from two sections. The weld was obvious when the mast was stripped and repainted. It is now three sections with the bottom three feet being replaced.

Careful Jose. Don't you have the fin keel? The shoal draft mast is shorter by almost a foot. Length is 52' 6" as I measured it on 8/17/2011.

P.S. your mast is beautiful!

Thanks Ed. Sorry I forgot about the "other model". I wish I had the shoal draft. The waterway is almost silted and Little River Inlet and Winyah bay are both very shallow.

By the way. My boat had no mast boot when I got it. Just 2 tubes of silicone on a gasket. After removing the top collar, I found a lot of sand in the void.

Do I need a boot. I measured 22" inside and 42" outside diameter. I am cleaning the mast collar and thinking about a rubber boot and a sumbrella cover. Any suppliers??
Thanks

I have never had leaks there Jose. I put a little silicone in before beating that heavy rubber seal down in there. Every spring and fall I might add a little silicone on top.

An idea that you could easily accomplish would be to weld a perimeter to those ears. Maybe 3/4' high, enough for a clamp for a boot. And not even with the hole, give it a 1/4" for wiggle room and to get that rubber seal down in there.

You could weld a collar around the outside edge too I guess. That would not work for me because I use those bolt holes for eye bolts. That is how I attach my vang and blocks for leading lines back.

Yes, definitely. I am certain of the 52.5' but will remeasure this week before it goes on the rack. For those stay lengths to be correct the mast length has to be right. Both mast lengths should have the same stay and shroud lengths. The extra mast length is taken up by the bilge. Still it would be good if Jose could verify his wire length with those in the link: http://hunter.sailboatowners.com/in...&cat_id=38&aid=7938&page=article&mn=37-cutter . I will eventually edit that post to add running backstays, the babystay, and both mast lengths.

I will measure all the stays tomorrow when I get to work and post the results.

Mast collar modification

Following Ed's advise, a 3/4 welded shoulder was added to the mast collar to allow for a clamp to hold down a future mast boot ;) After fairing and painting, it will look like new.
Thanks Ed

Did I forget to mention the patent!? I'm coming down there. I'll bring my mast partner. That is exactly what I had envisioned. And it would not affect the way I attach blocks using eye bolts instead of the flathead bolts. Nice job.

P.S. don't forget to slip the boot on before you put the mast in the hole. :)
P.S.S. I did remember to remeasure the mast today and it is 52' 6".
