I have a 1984 222 in very good condition. I read about a product called Penetral. I would like to treat the topside with this product. (by the way it restored the blue color bands on the side of the haul the best I ever saw)So I bought the stuff and tried it this weekend. I cleaned the surface, applied the Penetral with a clean cotton terry cloth rag and let it sit for maybe a minute, then removed it. I am concerned about it use and how to use it. It left th e suface kinda sticky. Is this normal? It seem very easy to use. Should I apply a wax after its use? Or should I be using something else. Can someone help? Thank You

Marine Penetrol

Scott I have used Marine Penetrol for the last couple of years and am very happy with the results. If it is leaving a sticky surface you may not be rubbing it out well enough. It doesn't require a lot of buffing but you do have to remove any excess and buff it out some. I don't recall it leaving a sticky film. I will be doing my boat again in a few days. Paul

Caution

Scott, Penetral is neat stuff but I would hesitate using it on the topsides and deck. It is basically a varnish and in time can flake off. It will also build up and have a slight yellow cast. If you have already bought it, it is good for things like coating your aluminum mast and boom for extra protection. r.w.landau
