Urgent rigging help needed

Hello all,

Well, our dear vega is finally about to get back in her element after
her year long refit. I had a quick question about the lower shrouds.
One is longer than the other, and I can't remember which is which. Is
the aft lower shroud (the one that attaches right below the spreader)
longer or the forward one?
The boat is going in the water tomorrow, so quick replies would be
most welcome.
Thanks already,

Cedric and Melissa

I'm about to put the mast back up on my Vega "Fleur" and have the same
problem - however I can't find anything in the handbook which makes it
clear which shroud goes where.Any help would be appreciated.

Hi John.
The top shroud from the top of the mast, going through the end of the
spreader, goes to the middle of the 3 U-shaped attachments. Since the
mast is vertical and the deck slopes slightly downward, backward, I
guess that the front, lower shroud is shorter than the rear lower shroud.
Good luck.

Hi:
The longest shroud is the forstay. The shorter is the
backstay. Then you have two equaly long shrouds for left
and right, and four shorter ones for the lower for and aft
(I didn't use the nautical terms like starboard etc.) The
backstay goes into the V-connection.
