Urgent Attention Albin Trailer Owners

Dear Members, I am a desperate dinghy sailor from the Toronto area
with visions of grandeur - sailing an Albin 27 in my home waters -
Lake Ontario! Sadly, I cannot afford to truck my new boat home from
Annapolis ($3-$4000) or purchase new trailer ($4-5000). I would sail
her home, but she needs new sails and probably an engine overhaul and
I don't have the luxury of time. Does anyone have a trailer that
could be used to haul her from Annapolis to, say, Rochester or Oswego
in May or June? I can sail her home from there if I pick my weather.
I can supply the truck, pay a reasonable fee for the use of the
trailer and provide a large cash deposit as security. I would forever
indebted to anyone who can assist in this regard. Thanks, Trev Leech

Hi Trev,
Had the same problem last fall.Welded a cradle, used
jack stand heads to hold the boat, chained the cradle
to an equipment trailer,(a lighter car trailer would
do)and hauled it 420 miles to Ohio with an old 3/4
pick up.It was not easy, may have been illegal, but made
it.Cost:square tubing $ 500,jack heads 65 each,gas
350.If you like I'll send the measurements.
Emil.

Hey Trevykins,
Good luck moving your boat. Sorry I don't have a trailr for ya. Which
Vega did you buy? Usually we ID them by hull number. Mine is # 3175

Hi Trev,

This is Victor and I think I may have corresponded with you earlier.
I have a trailer in Tawas, Michigan. Blue Fin is on it right now but
should be back in the water by early May at the latest. If i can be
of help, let me know.

Victor

Andy, I'm not sure of the hull no. She was built in '76. I'm going
down to get my first good look at her this weekend. Will keep you
posted. Cheers.

Sorry Victor. Tried replying to you earlier but I must have pressed
the wrong button. Apologies to you and the group for cluttering the
list. I'd be much obliged if we could arrange something to your
satisfaction after your boat goes in. No huge rush. I am going to look
at the boat in Annapolis on Sunday and (absent any nasty surprises)
plan to make an offer. Knowing there may be a solution to the
transport issue, before making a commitment, is a huge relief. May I
correspond with you off the list somehow to arrange the details?
Thanks, Trevor
