UPS dowsing sock conversion

I purchased a UPS and have never been able to make the furler work properly. I've tried more, smaller line, tight luff, loose luff, etc.. Always the bottom third to half furls leaving a great mass of the top half only partially furled. The result is that I'm not using the sail. How would I go about converting it to use a spinnaker type sock?

Bill, There must be some reason your furler is not doing the job. You might not be getting enough luff tension before you try furling. The luff rope needs to be tight to furl correctly. Have your sail consultant check it out. If you still want to switch to a sock all you have to do is purchase a sock that is the length of the leech of the UPS. You will also need a length of line to use as a tackline or downhaul. Install the sail in the sock and you are ready to go.Bill Colombo, Doyle SF
