The 2nd Annual Sippy Cup, an overnight sailing race for trailerable boats 26' or less with PHRF ratings of 200 or more, was postponed one week to give potential entrants with scheduling conflicts the opportunity to race. A forecasted small craft advisory kept racers at the dock the following Friday evening, but Saturday morning at 10am, the 3 adventurous and hearty race entrants set sail on a shortened course from the North East River, west around Poole's Island, and north to Worton Creek. The gentle breeze of the morning waned to a flat calm as racers rounded Poole's Island, and after waiting for wind for some time, the race was called off. Participants motored to Worton Creek for a raft-up and dinner in good company. Congratulations to "Pegehiwime", a Precision 23, for being the "Boat in The Lead The Longest"! This year's Sippy Cup had a total of 3 participating boats, which is one more than last year. We hope that more small boat sailors will join us next year and experience the fun and challenge of distance racing.

Sippy Cup Participants:
"Pegehiwime", a Precision 23', with Jim Brown, Hilary and Xander Deininger, and Bud
"Miss Ad-Venture", a MacGregor/Venture 25', with brothers Jim and Mark Van Lenten
"Whimsey", a Venture 22', with Dobbs and Suzanne Fryberger

Happy Sailing!
