Upgrades and question.
Is that a book you mentioned? I'll look for it if it is. I haven't made as many upgrades and Brian and Steph but here is what I have done. We had new lifelfines made and added bow cleats. The lifelines now go to a stern rail and the back has a lifeline with a clip as well to take it loose. We have added a swim ladder. We put on spinlocks instead of the horn cleats for the jib sheats. I have added a second battery. I added a cig. lighter in the fuse panel box to be able to plug a fan or whatever in. We added a solor panel for charging and have it wired in direct to the battery. We have added a fold down counter extention for the galley. Out in the cockpit I made pieces of wood out of teak and mounted them over the fuel locker and added a locking hasp to be able to lock the fuel up. I pulled all the grab rails off and made new ones a litte bit bigger and installed those. I added an anchor roller that mounted under the front pad of the bow pulpit. I also reinforced the bow eye and added a bigger plate behind the eye. Up in the V berth I cut out holes by the porta-pot and this gave us extra storage. We had curtains made for the windows and I ran a track along the top by the head and this gives us a curtain to pull across if there are other on the boat. This gives a litte bit of privacy. Some other things we have done but not really for cruising, I pulled all the woodwork down below and finished that in a clear gloss finish. This took me two winters but it looks pretty good. I have also pulled all the deck hardware and rebedded that. I added some small brass clips to hang camping candle holders on down below, this gives a nice ambiance when its wanted. A couple of things I want to do yet is get a pop top, a bimini and run all of the lines to the cockpit. I got most of these ideas from others here on this site. Chuck from NY was kind enough to give me a list of things he had done. I am always on the lookout for ideas and ways to make the admiral more comfortable but at the same time keeping it simple.
