Upgrade from st3000 to st4000

I have a new(to me)Catalina 30 with an ST3000. Surveyor could not get motor to operate, althoug the controls appeared to be functioning. 1) Can I get a new motor if it checks out bad 2) if I upgrade to the ST4000 will any of the existing wiring be of use?

The ST3000 system consists of the control unit, drive assemble, belt and wheel drum. The drive unit has a small dc motor that turns a planetary gear box and in turn the main drive cog. There are also several different generations of 3000 autopilot.
