Update on Mercury 5 Hp Propane outboard

I have found over the last season the outboard is slow to start if it sets for more than a week. The secret is after you connect the propane hose and open the tank valve, don't keep pulling the starter rope more than three or four times. The propane has to make it's way into the mixing chamber in the outboard. Do pull out the choke and crack the throttle open, but wait a full 60 seconds between start attempts. It may take up to six cycles before it starts. Pulling fast and hard does not improve the chance of starting and my in fact work against you. It will also give you blisters.

That is interesting I wouldn't have expected that. I converted my generator over to propane and it starts right up.

A lot of folks learned with the new Blackstone griddles that if you turn the propane tank on very slowly, that you don't have a flow problem. If it's turned on fast, it sets off the safety overflow on the tank! Food for thought!

Ameriseam down in Tampa, FL has the pattern for the Hunter 23.5 unless it was made elsewhere. This forum store does deal with Ameriseam. I introduced Ameriseam to Hunter and was present when the boats were initially measured
