Hunter 280 Lake Guntersville, AL
Well, she's almost home. Actually, my boat is in a yard on the lake she'll stay in. Having a few blister repaired and new bottom paint before launching. Some things I learned: Decommissioning a medium-sized boat is *HARD* work. I spent one afternoon and the next morning getting her ready to roll and wore my buttocks out. Tied and padded everything I could think of and I hope it worked. The mast and boom are still padded and lashed down while the bottom work is being done. Contacted Hunter about disconnecting the prop shaft and they said it was not necessary. I tried but could not get the holding tank pumped. Something about having to have a card or something. Anyway, I followed the boat for the first leg of the journey and when we stopped, I checked inside to make sure everything was OK. Well, the pot was full and maybe an ounce of water had splashed onto the floor. I pumped the bowl dry and crossed my fingers. At the final destination everything - head included - seemed OK. The driver was a pretty decent guy; even helped a bit and gave some good advice when asked. I'd give a positive recommendation if anyone needs a hauler. I hope this wasn't too longwinded. Anyone wishing to discuss further, I'd be more than happy to spend the time relating my experiences - both in the purchasing and transporting an H280.
