would like to update house/starter battery on 1980 Catalina 27 with universal m/5411, not sure what type deep cell of the ( 3 ) types agm/gel/unsealed and starting amps. ?

To start a 5411, you can use virtually anything. If you also run refrig, inverter, instruments, radar, windlass, lights, radios, etc., the size bank increases as does the forgotten part of the equation, I.e., the charging system.

I have a C 30 also with a 5411. Two group 27 lead acid deep cell type batteries are cost effective & will provide more then enough power to start your engine & keep your lights & 12 volt devices powered overnight on the hook. But beware of powering refrigerators via batteries alone. Even the small 12 volt powered coolers draw down tons of amps overnight.
