up, up and away?

To bosen or not to bosen... that is the question. It's too many times, I've had the need to go up the mast, to fix the steaming light, to recapture the jib sail sheet,(roller furling line), and now because Hurricane charley broke & bent my wind indicator, sigh... I don't have a rig or basic knowledge about lowering the mast, and a bosen's chair is expensive, even with out the purchase of some mechanical advantage in hoisting me-self up there! suggestions matee's?25'catalina standard mast size, roller furling.thanxdr. thagg.

Check with a local boatyard

Hi there Doc. Check with your boatyard to see if they have the ability to lift you up there. My yard claims to charge $45 to carry someone up in their boson's chair on their crane. The one time I actually used their service they only charge me $25 and it was very safe.Oh, and however you decide to get your butt up there, don't forget your camera to get a few pics of your boat from up there.
