Greetings,

I recently purchased my first boat, a 1985 H23, Hull#44 (I think). The boat is in decent condition, but sat outside for a couple of years unused. I believe this greatly accelerated the deterioration of the rigging, so I am replacing most of the lines. I was able to take measurements off of most of the existing rigging, but I am not sure how long to make my genoa sheets. I am not sure what size of Genoa I have, but it is on a CDI roller-furler. Most of the rigging is 3/8", and I am planning on replacing it all with New England Ropes Stay-Set. I would greatly appreciate the help in determining the length of the genoa sheets, and also your opinions as to my line choice. One other item; a pass-through bracket is riveted to the front of the mast roughly 10-15' from the bottom. a 3/8" line is passed through the bracket and knotted on either side to keep it from sliding through the bracket, leaving an equal amount of line on either side of the bracket. The line parts are roughly 10-15' long and terminated in eye splices with a small block on each end. Another line is passed through both blocks. I am not sure what this setup is, perhaps part of a mast raising system? Any ideas? I bought the boat from a dealer and was not able to ask the original owner.

Welcome to sailing Chris. Our h23 came with a 100% jib as original equipment. When we added a 150% genoa with tracks for the genoa leads, we found we were able to use the jib sheets for the genoa with no problems. The jib sheets are each 25ft long

Thanks Jim. That was the last piece of info I needed for the running rigging.
