Check fuel shut off

I am assuming you have lots of fuel to the injection pump. No air left in filters, lines or the injection pump itself. Check and see if your shut off cable is letting the shut down lever go all the way to the full run position. Have someone pull then push the shut down at the cockpit engine control panel. Watch and make sure your lever on the injection pump moves up against the stops in both direction. You will not get fuel to the injectors if the shut off lever is not in the "RUN" position. Good luck.

I assume you've

also bled the air out of the nut on the top of the secondary (engine mounted) filter housing. The only other place, after that, is the knurled knob on the injector lines. Stu

Stop....

If the shut off lever is at full run and you have good fuel delivery to the large banjo bolt at the side of the injector pump. Your done. Pull the injector pump and have it rebuilt and flowed. NOW HERES THE TRICKY PART.... Be carefull taking the pump off!!! there are thin metal shimms under the pump. THEY MUST GO BACK IN! These control injection timing. M25

This summer my engine (1983 M25)wouldn't start. I tried a lot of different things, but when I bled the injectors I didn't get much much out of two of them. The middle one spurted quite a bit out. I was worried about the pump and injectors. My buddy felt like the pump was probably ok because at least one injector was getting fuel. I never did get anything significant out of the two end ones. He by listening to the engine turn over per my cell phone felt that the engine was turning a bit slow and that something could be wrong with the starter speed and it wasn't turning over enough to get fuel to the injectors and not building enough compression for the fuel to ignite. I ended up having the starter rebuilt and the engine started right up the first time I turned it over. Another long shot question comes to me is, in what position is the compression release lever. I sure wish I had access to this forum when I am out sailing and things go wrong. I have learned so much from you who contribute. Thank you all.

On my back ho I spray WD 40 in the intake and crank the moter and it will start and run if you keep spraying short blasts. This starts the moter and it self primes. On my boat I use the bleeder becouse its easy but I think It will work the same with the wd 40 . John
