Universal M25 coolant hoses problem

I replaced all of the coolant hoses on my M25, in a Catalina 36, last year, except two - the 7/8" ID right angle run from the thermostat housing to the exhaust manifold, and the small one from the water flange to the water pump. These are reference numbers 19 and 8, respectively, in the parts book page "water flange" (see link). Problems 1. The "marine flex" wire-reinforced 7/8" hose I tried to use for "19" won't make the turn without collapsing. I think it's intended to be exhaust hose, not coolant hose. I don't think wire reinforcement is necessary for this. Comments? 2. The little hose - "8" - just coudn't find the same material. I am planning on trying a molded automotive coolant hose that turns 90 degrees, but I couldn't get an appropriate one in 7/8" ID; I did get one that's 13/16" ID - I think it will fit. Has anyone else solved this problem? Please help! Thanks, jv http://www.marinedieseldirect.com/universal/200142/water-flange-group.htm

Hose replacement

For "19" I used 2 straight sections of 7/8" hose and assembled/soldered a 3/4" copper elbow with 2 short copper pcs. Then hose clamped it together, no wire reinforcement required. Its not pretty but, it doesn't rub against the alternater bracket llike the old one did and should last a lot longer...

Oem - yes and no

You can order OEM hoses: ref. 19: 300101 $11.40 ref. 8: 300236 $ 9.50 But, I don't know if you'll get a molded piece for 300101 or just a 7" length of wire reinforced hose; for 300236, its just a few inches of hose, adn the price seems outrageous. It woul dbe much more satisfying to find a commonly available alternative.

I know, ...

...I should just go ahead - but that wouldn't be any fun, would it? Seriously, if anyone's sorted this out otherwise, I'd really like ot know. jv

7/8 Radiator Hose

Had the same problem with the 7/8 inch hose. I brought the old hose to Mike at REX Marine parts in Norwalk Ct. He was able to find about 10ft of exact replacement hose. I only purchased 3 feet. I'll bet he still has the rest available MarcP
