Universal M-25 Alternator Bracket Replacement

Has anybody read about or had a problem with the original alternator mounting brackets failing which also destroys the oil filter? I have read several accounts where the bracket failed, punctured the filter and all of the oil ended up in the bilge. I have ordered a replacement/re-designed mounting kit from Universal and also wondered if anybody has experience installing it. Thanks in advance. Jeff

Mounting Bracket

Jeff We have an 1986 an I replaced mine three years ago. It is simple to do. The old bracket had cracked. The new one takes care of the problem. Why Catalina does'nt have a notice out on these kind of things I'll never know. Gary

I did the job this weekend and everything went fine until I tried to pull out the 4 stud bolts that go into the water reservoir(the old ones were too short for the bracket). Eventually had to use an easy-out after the bolts sheared off. Everything seems to work fine now and the alternator seems solidly in place. Jeff
