I have a quick question folks. I launched my boat late this year (July 15, 2016) and will pull it out of the water on November 8, 2016. This is my first year with this boat. Prior to launching this year, I replaced my primary Groco filter with a Racor 120 housing/ 10 micron filter, I changed my facet electric fuel pump filter, and installed a new Universal secondary filter. My diesel ran great this year but I have only put about 10 hours on it and consumed 4 gallons of diesel fuel all season. Is it really necessary to change all of the fuel filters again with so few hours of engine time? I do plan to change the oil and oil filter.

Always a good idea to change the engine oil and filter at the end of the season. Shouldn't be necessary to change the fuel filters right away. Check the manufacturers recommendations for fuel filter changes, usually 100 to 150 hours between changes.

I changed my facet electric fuel pump filter,
Is the pump before the Racor? If so, move it to after the Racor, because the pump filter shouldn't be first in line from the tank.

Don't worry about your diesel filters. Mine has been in for GASP!!! three years. Engine runs just fine.

Oil filters would be a good thing to change when you change the oil before layup.

Good luck.

Thanks Stu!

The Facet electric pump is after the Racor filter. Changing all of the fuel filters seemed like overkill to me.

Thanks Tom!

I will only change the oil and oil filter.

10 hrs & 4 gal diesel? Hope you're running engine to recharge batteries a lot... My Westerbeke 10-2 only uses about a qt/hr.
Check the Racor regularly - if there is trash in bowl, may be good time to change filter. If not, let it ride... I'd you have a clean tank (mine isn't, so I replaced it with external tank), filters last a long time.
