I have an Oday 30 with a Universal 16hp-- it has raw water and fresh water cooling.Raw water impellor is new and flow through transom looks good. In fresh water system I changed antifreeze at beginning of season. First time out it ovverheated. I checked antifreeze level--ok--installed new thermostat and added more antifreeze through housing--still overheating--mechanic told me there may be an air lock--I ran it at dock until it warmed up--shut down, antifreeze down soI added about a quart. It ran fine for next two trips then overheated on third--antifreeze level ok--SUGGESTIONS???????

Heat Exchanger

Larry, I had a similar problem with my universal 3cyl. Turned out that the head exchager had failed and was mixing salt water with the coolant. Sometimes it would appear to be full and occasionally it would be low!! I flushed the coolant side of the system with LOTS of fresh water, installed the New heat exchanger and life is cool again.

Diesel Overheating

Larry; Did you mix any water in with the antifreeze? Antifreeze/coolant is not meant to be used alone. It needs to be mixed 50/50 with water.
