Hello Everyone
I am a new owner of an 85 Hunter 31 and I have a few questions about what happens to water when it gets under the floor.
1. Under the engine, there is a about a 2 inch hole cut a few inches above the floor, on the starboard side, where does this hole lead? If fluid got into it, where would it go? How would it get there?
2. Under the floor, in the galley, front of the ladder, there is a compartment that fluid from the engine room drains into – what happens when fluid collects in there? Except for the holes that wires pass through it doesn’t look like there is any place for fluid to drain.
3. How is water supposed to flow from the bathroom floor into the compartment that has the bilge pump? In my boat, in the compartment under the floor that’s in front of the bathroom there is a hole that looks would lead the water under the compartment that has the bilge pump.
Thank you.

Technically there should NOT be any holes in the pan under the engine. Most of the H'31 that I have seen have a hole between the area under the companionway and the engine. They also have a hole between the companionway and the main bilge. If water water enters these areas it normally going between the liner and the hull (not a real good idea.

The shower bilge should have a small hose that will drain the show to the main bilge.

If you do not have a drain from the companionway bilge, you can drill a hole and glue in a piece of 1/2" PVC so the water does not get into the liner area.

Thanks Steve. I should have searched the forums before asking the question because there is plenty of good information, a lot of which I have you to thank.
