Need to bring the mast down on our '23 to replace windex, add VHF antenna, add anchor light, add a spreader mounted deck light, and fix the steaming light. This will have to be done at the slip as I don't have a trailer. Should I bring the mast down foward or aft? Also, are there any special tricks to bringing it down? I'm figuring that if I release the forestay and pull the forward hinge pin then have a friend walk it aft holding tension while I and another friend 'walk' the mast down should work. Then it's a simple matter of pulling the aft hinge pin and laying the base of the mast on the bow pulpit. Then I should be able to get to the masthead and spreaders from the deck. Yes/No???

mast unstepping

I use main sheet attached to jib halyard and stemhead to take some of the strain, it makes it easy for two people then.

Added items

Russ, When you finish adding all of your upgrades, please post how you were able to accomplish them. I would like to add many of the same items, but getting the wiring between the cabin roof and liner look like quite a chore. Good luck and please advise us all.

Will do

Right now cleanup after the storm has a higher priority so the boat will have to wait a few weeks. My plan of attack is to use the old wiring to pull the new wiring.
