I was wondering if anyone has installed this system? Any thoughts or opinions would be welcome.

I believe there are several previous threads that discussed this topic. Suggest you type ultrasonic in the search bar and you’ll get them. You’ll have to sort through because you will get ultrasonic transducers and other topics.

Right up there with ultrasonic rodent repellers…

But no, I have no experience with the boat variety:cool:

I thought it sounded to good to be true. I didn't realize they were out there this long.
Thank you for your input.

I remember when these ads first started to appear and the idea is intriguing but if you are putting enough ultrasonic vibrations into your hull to knock off a barnacle and/or marine slime, you are also sending those same sound waves through the molecular structure that makes up the resin in your hull…. I just can’t see how you are not slowly (maybe not so slowly) breaking up the chemical bonds that hold your hull together.:yikes:

An interesting question. Reminds me of a Jimmy Stuart movie where he plays an eccentric scientist with a theory for the cause of a plane crash. Metal fatigue.
“No Highway in the Sky”. Caution it is a black and white film from a time gone by. No computer graphic special effects, but an interesting story.

It was expensive. I read up enough about it so bought the same wattage and frequency from China - and it’s on my project list to install. About $45 iirc

Interesting how that movie predicted the problems that caused the Comet (first jet airliner) to crack up in flight, before the failure mechanism was discovered in the Comet. Jimmy Stewart's character was investigating crashes that he discovered were caused by cyclic metal fatigue and crack propagation. The plane in the movie had tail problems and the Comet was cracks forming in the corners of the square windows (that's why planes have rounded windows BTW) but both were fatigue failure and crack propagation in aluminum that was not very well understood at the time. Funny that the movie industry discovered this before the airline industry.
