I am thinking adding a couple of coats of Ulimate Sole over the existing finsh of my floors. Do you think it will yellow? Thanks Droop

Just a thought for you. I contacted Catalina about getting a replacement carpet for my 20 year old boat. Would you believe it is still available? The cost is a reasonable $181 bucks. It just drops in with double face tape and in my opinion looks great and feels good on the bare feet. Granted, its not a beautiful as a teak sole but it was cheap and looks fine to me. well, like I said, just a thought, Jack

Cheap

That's cheap. In the land of sailboating, when you can find a reasonably priced article buy it !! One question, is there a cut out for the bilge ? If not it is easily lifted up for access. CM

Droopy...If your floor boards are teak and holly

you might consider Minwax Polyurethane floor finish. I've been using it for years. It looks fantastic, wears like iron, and doesn't yellow. Best of all you can get it at a home center for a fraction of the cost of "boat fini$he$".

yes!

Wife refinished all the floor boards in our boat using the three part Ultimate Sole system....great stuff! It has a great tack to it that you do not get with regular varnishes and so far wears great...ok only 1/2 season, but it looks great.

How do you tip

the instructions say to "lightly level by tipping lightly with your brush' I don't know how to tip? Accept a a resturant. Reminds me of a funny story. My cousin moved from NYC to Atlanta, GA. We eat out at a resturant. I got the check and she left the tip. She only left a 7% tip. I said, you have to leave more that that. She said, no the tip was right you just double the tax to figure it out. I said, maybe in NYC you can double the tax to get the tip but not down here!

It's all in the stroke of the brush. When ever applying any finish always slightly tip your brush( use the end of the bristles and not the side of the brush) and go with the grain of the wood. Also, brush into the wet, slightly lifting the brush to end your stroke. Into and not away from the wet. Keep it up, Ctskip

I put Ultimate Sole on my floorboards.

They came out great. I am very happy with it It was very easy I just slightly sanded (with 200 grit?)my existing varnish (that was in good shape basically) and applied with a foam brush. The Ultimate Sole went on very well and really no need to do anything else. I think if you contact the ultimate sole people they will also recomend a foam brush, no real need for a bristle brush

Ultimate Sole...

...is good stuff. I used it on the sole and the steps, both have held up well and look good. If you have questions, call them and talk to them. I called with a basic question and ended up speaking to the chemist that put it all together.
