I'm interested in replacing the u-bolt chainplates on my O'Day 35 and was wondering if anyone knows of a source? Searching the internet has resulted in nothing. I know lots of boats besides O'Day used u-bolt chainplates so either they last forever or a replacement is out there somewhere? The design looks to me like it will be susceptible to stress corrosion cracking and I'd like to do some preventive maintenance before a long distance trip for piece of mind. I can always pull them and have them flourescent penetrant inspected (FPI) but I figured it is just as easy to pull them and replace with new and keep the old ones for spares. I checked D&R website but nothing listed. Thanks, Dave

Dave M. Never looked for them. I assume you mean the teak rails that the top hatch slides along? How do you like Oriental. I visited the area a few weeks back, I am planning to relocate to NC in the next month or two. I am looking at Morehead City as a place to settle in since I have friends there. Oriental seemed a bit hard to get to and not a lot in the town, I'm sure it is peaceful though. Maybe we can have O'35 races once I get down there. How did you move your boat? Did you go outside or down the IC? Regards, Dave

But then I love small easy going towns. We Sail and talk to boaters going up and down the ICW. About 5000 pass by and some stop each fall and spring. It is hard to get to, but that is the beauty of it. People don't come here unless they want to be here. We came down the ICW. Nice trip. Dismal Swamp canal will be open to the end of the year which is a pretty trip, longer if we can when I battle with the Fed's. We have a number of 34/35's around.
