one is what is the best way to seal the through-hull where my drive shaft used to go? The shaft's still in there and I don't want to ghlass it. I thought about removing the stuffing bos and just getting some more high grade hose and capping it and putting that on there.
The other is how do I asses lightning safety of my boat? I've heard horror stories about masthead strikes blowing holes right through the bottom of small sailboats. We're sailing down to the keys in a few weeks and afternoon t-storms weigh on my mind.

1 inch pvc plug (home depot), cover with 2 1/2 inch butyl rubber pipe cap (Home depot), 3 ss band clamps. When moored, hook a piece of chain to your chainplate and drop the other end in the water 2 feet deep, when underway hook a piece of wire to your back stay, drop one end in the water.

Most Hunters of those years have ground wire running from mast support to keel bolts. Does yours?
