Two problems with Fleur

I've just had to cut short my delivery trip home wtih Fleur from the
Medway to Scotland- as a result I now have two problems.

While mooring against the harbour wall in Bridlington my tiller
snapped during the night. Not only was the wood completely snapped in
two (where one of the screws on the bronze/ brass bracket enters the
wood, but the bracket itself was badly bent. So my first question is -
can I re-use the old bracket or is it likely to be completely
compromised? Secondly I see that the new tiller advertised on the
website is shown whith a bracket which looks like steel - is this easy
to install? Are there any sacrificial corrosion issues if it is
attached to the exsting rudder fixings?

My second problem is a more expensive one. I didn't want to leave the
boat unattended in the harbour at Brid. as it was going up and down
the harbour wall about 5-6 metres every day. Therefore I had the boat
lifted out and the mast taken down. The going rate to ship it home to
Scotland seems to be about £750 (ouch). Would I be better to put this
money to buying a second-hand trailer and moving it myself?: are there
any suitable second hand trailers out there?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

John

PS she sailed beautifuly on the trip reaching 6+ knots through the
water, even with her original 28 year old round boom reefing mainsail.
