Went to the marina today and found: 1. water in one of the overhead lights 2. my masthead light holding on by the wire Not happy. The mast is only a year and a half old. I wonder if a large bird tried to land on the mast.

Don't be scared!!!

Your post is a bit vague. Size of boat, model, actual location, etc. No one here is looking to laugh at you. Large bird, possibly!!! What kind of "overhead light", "masthead light" ?Anchor light, steaming light, tri-color light at masthead, deck lights mounted on spreaders, how long since you've been to marina??? All these things are relevant. Your next door neighbor in another slip may have the answer if you'd just open up a little bit!!!

Same Thing With My Cabin Light!

I am writing you from Long Island, NY. My H260 has been out of the water, and in my driveway, since Thanksgiving weekend. I did not put a cover, or tarp, on my boat since a expect to have it back in the water between March 1 and April 1. I do have a companion way cover on the boat and, hence, I have no leaks. About 4 weeks ago I was working in the cabin and I noticed water had collected in the cabin light over the table. I am speaking of the light near the base of the mast, the one just forward of the access panel. I removed the water, about 2-3 table spoons full, and examined under the access panel. The area was bone dry and there were no signs of water marks. The only thing I can think of is condensation forming on the cold metal components of the lights from the damp air in the cabin. I suggested this to a friend who thinks this is unlikely. I used the phrase "damp air in the cabin" because I have a H260 water ballasted. I installed a deck plate in the top of the W/B tank (under the cabin step) which I had left open when I stored the boat. I think this is where the moist air might have come from. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Leaky Mast base/centerboard line access

On a few occassions I've found water in the light and on the table of my 1999 H260 after a rain. The more the rain, the bigger the puddle. I suspect that water is coming in from the mast step and/or the channel that the centerboard control line passes through to enter the compression post. This spring I plan on pulling the mast step and having a look under. Fair winds, Tom
