TV antenna

Sometimes my wife and I just like to "chill out" on our Hunter 285, which sometimes does include watching a DVD on our portable TV, which has a DVD player built in. However, when I may want to watch the news, weather or even an old movie, the reception is.... well it stinks. Right now our mast is down and in a rack at our marina for some repairs and maintenance. Obviously, now is the time to mount a TV antenna on the mast if we're going to do it. Has anyone mounted one lately? Can you make a recommendation? We’re not looking to pull in satellites from space, just to catch a TV station out of Baltimore once in a while

Powered antenna

Anything with a power antenna amplifier. And the smaller the better because of wind drag. I have the Triax - small, 12v and $130 at WM. Put it on top of the mast with the included bracket. In Racine I can get good reception from four states - about 25 channels. It also does FM.I had the unit for 4 years and the amp went bad and the company replaced it for the cost of postage to send the faulty unit back. That is a real plus.Tried the Boatenna ($80) and would never buy one, at least where we are located. You have to pull it up the mast every time you want to use it. And it got minimal reception.

John,I saw the Triax in a catalog and thought it might be a good choice especially since it also pulls in FM stations. Tell me, the bracket that came with it, does that mount the disc in front of the mast and away from any interference with the mast sheaves so the halyards don't rub against it or the bracket?Thanks for the info and I'll post something about the installation. That is, of course, after all the snow melts around here!!
