turnbuckles stop nuts loosening

my oday 20 turnbuckle stop nuts keep loosening up. i tried some electrical tape, but the tape came off after a few rain storms. i was thinking of using some locktite, but it can be alittle messy and i didn't know what would happen in the fall when i had to drop the mast.i was wondering if anyone had a better idea.

Nope...you're on the right track

My stop nuts will loosen too every once in a while. It's just good practice to make sure they are a bit tighter than thumb tight everytime you go out.

lock tite for now

thanks. i used some locktite for now as the boat is moored. i wanted to make some adjustments in the tension, but now i couldn't loosen some of the top nuts while laying on a rolling deck with the tools i had. the bottom nuts were loose, so i tightened them and used blue locktite and said the hell with it for now.
