Why not? How about what for?
I'm just curious as to why you bought a sail boat if you wanted a power boat? Was it that cheap? I don't know how efficient it will end up being, but I'm sure you could do it. I mean I don't think you'd ever get a sail boat to plane out like you can a power boat. That aside, if you are going to modify it enough to get rid of the sails, just make sure you reinforce the transom enough to hold the engine AND the horse power you put on the back. Honda makes some pretty light and durable engines, in some high ratings. 4 strokes even, so you don't have to worry about the mixing of gas and pollution, or the screaming of a two stroke. Another problem you might have, aren't the transoms on odays sloped? If you mount an engine on a slanted surface, the engine is going to be pushing into the water as well as forward. Kind of like how you trim a boat to get it up out of the water...except yours would always be on trim! I think that and the reinforcement of the boat to handle the engine would be the biggest, and probably the only problems.Though, I still ask why?Heh,Josh
