Turks Head Knot Question

I'm spending some of my newly found free time wrapping my helm wheel.
I've never tied a turks head knot before so I went to You Tube and watched several videos. I can now make one on my fingers but my question is about making it on the wheel.

My question is this: How do I split the turks head knot at the spoke? I haven't found a video showing this.
Any other suggestions for tying a turks head on a wheel?

Edit: Here is the How To link I found most helpful. Turks Head Knot
Thanks

I commend you taking on this knot challenge. Take a look at post #14 in the link below.

Put the turk's head on the king spoke, not around it.

@capta I'm trying to put the Turks Head on the rim at each spoke for decoration purposes. Another THK will mark the dead center on the rim.

@sail sfbay That link is very helpful. The pic shows exactly what I want to do, it explains that I need an even lead knot and there is a another link to detailed instructions. Most helpful.

Thanks

We adjusted the steering on our boat so one spoke was straight up when the rudder was centered. Then we put a Turk's Head on the rim around that spoke. Makes it easy to tell where the rudder is without looking at the wheel, for example when backing up. Having a Turk's Head on every spoke would defeat most of the reason for having one, in my opinion.

I put a turk’s head on each side of the king spoke, on the rim.
