I recently replaced my old 16K btu MarineAirrrrrr with a 16K btu CruiseAir "turbo" several months ago (yup, also a lightning strike on an 'old' AC). Its lighter in weight, has less 'footprint' dimensions, 'much' quieter due to the rotary compressor, seems to have much less amperage demand especially on startup, has an automatic 'dehumidification' cycle for when Im off my boat for long term, .... and that condensate pan really does drain completely so I dont have the bacterial growth/stink. This was a *very* easy DIY install, although I had to run/install the upgraded control panel to replace the old. With the air distribution blower running at a selectable lower rpm, this unit is much much quieter than my old MarineAirrrrr.
Im very impressed with the apparent quality and perfomance, even that I spent a few $100 more than competetive ACs.
BTW - with the boating industry essentially prostrate due to the current depression I was able to strike an outstanding deal with my local AC sub-distributor - much better than 'internet' offerings. You just have to be prepared 'politely haggle a little bit'. Only problem is that delivery may be long because the units are so new. :-O
