Providing that nothing is broken and eveything goes well what would be a ball park cost to have the rigging tuned on a 86 cataliana 27? Thanks, jack

Nothing?

It's a DIY thing, and your owner's manual from Catalina has a very good description of how to do it. If you don't have one, just go to any Catalina owner's association website and download one. Save $, learn something, it's really easy, and something you should know.

Unless you buy a fancy tuning gauge. I just borrow a friend's. As far as intervals...as often as you think it needs it. It depends on the condition of the rigging, the type of sailing you do (and like to do), etc. And you know the ol' saying...You can tune a Catalina, but you can't tune a fish. It was around $240 to tune my 92 H28

that more than I wanted to spend BUT nothing for a boat is cheap. I agree with Stu you can do it yourself and follow the manual.

It depends ... :)

The rigging on a 1986 boat might be dead and not tunable. Old wire will not hold a tune. Is there a problem with the rig or is this just a maintenance job? If you have never paid for a rig inspection and tune, it might be wise to do so the first time. Be at the boat when the work is done. After that it is simple (as Stu suggests). Expect to pay 2 hours + travel time per man (they will have to send two riggers out unless you are there to help). If your boat was 30 minutes from our shop and you helped, you would pay $225. If you could not be at the boat, the bill would be $550 (two men).
