Tuning a B&R rigged Hunter 380

Hunter 380 Sandusky Ohio
I just purchased a Hunter 380 w/in-mast furling. We had the mast tuned in Canada before we brought it to Oh. The person who tuned it said he could not get the mast tuned properly because the mast must be tuned laying down while off the boat. The mast is off and I've asked two "experts" who say they only tune B&R rigs while on the boat. The Selden Instructions say tune it laying down. My question - Does anyone know someone familiar with tuning a B&R rig near Sandusky OH that will tune my mast before I step it?

You can do it either way...not difficult since you don't have prebend for rollerfurler!
Here is instruction from manual:

I have in mast furling and pre bend in mine, and it works fine. I believe my manual shows up to 2 inches with in mast furling. It has helped to keep some of the belly out of the sail shape.

Thanks,

What do you mean "pre-bend for roller furler"? Do you special supports for the mast?

What kind of supports do you use when tuning the mast?

It was initially set when I re rigged the boat after shipment to the Lake Superior. I used the marina's mast stands. I fine tuned it after it was back up. Attached are Hunters instructions.

I do tuning with mast up. I meant in mast furling;sorry for confusion.
I believe it is easier since you don't have to do it twice. Tuning diamonds will give you pre bend. For your type of sail it is from 0" to 2" max. I have 6" for my full roach main. Then you tension standing rigging for 10% load cable is rated for. Check when sailing and adjust as needed.

Harbor North is in Huron OH. They are a Hunter dealer. I winter there. They have helped me tune my mast, we did it while it was up. They are great to work with and would be a great resource. Talk to Bruce or TJ. Their phone number is (419) 433-6010. As a side, the Huron River ice blew out on Saturday. Spring is coming.
