Question for the group, has anyone fitted a Harken MK IV furler on their 40.5 I got tired of having issues with the original Hood Furler and am trying to replace it with the Harken. Have run into problems with attaching the drum to the Harken toggle due to the shape of the bow/anchor chain locker. Wondering if anyone else had issues and how they solved them.

Each boat design needs to address the choice of Harken Toggle and Link Plate to ensure a proper fit for the boat.
The furler is attached to the boat via the clevis pin. You need to select the toggle assembly that works best for your boat and choose between short or long link plates. Use a short toggle for maximum luff length (this is above deck).

Pictures of your boat and the issue you are having can help us, who have Harken experience, but are not on your boat, provide ideas that can resolve the issue.

Did you get any input from Harken? Customer service or tech support? That would be my first call. When I installed my ProFurl unit 20 years ago I was in contact with Fla based distributor who enlightened me to the unit's particulars... he even sent me the double toggle required for proper installation. Harken, of course, is somewhat different than ProFurl, but there may be similar installation particulars, especially if a warranty is applicable. At least have that base covered by trying to contact them. Good Luck.
