Trouble with tacking West Potter 15

I've sailed my West Potter 15 for two seasons. I keep having a very hard time getting the boat to tack across the wind.

Most of the time, I almost make it, but the boat gets backwinded at the last moment. I am doing a lot of gybing to get back to port.

Several more experienced sailors did not get much better results with tacking on my WP15.

I have the standard rigging in good order and as far as I can tell everything is correctly set up.

I know I am coming up against my own limited experience, but are these boats known for this behavior?

Don’t be so quick to haul in the lazy sheet. When you do that the jib gets back winded before you have completed the tack and hinders the process.

When I was sailing dinghys it was important to time it right. On my 23 footer not so much and with the 37 footer I can’t recall ever go.ing into irons without needing to give it much attention.

Also don’t pinch before tacking i.e. keep your speed up.
