Last fall, my Bidata ST30 stopped registering depth. It was on and off for awhile and then off completely. I still have power to the gauge and I have speed reading, just no depth. The conection to the transducer looks good with no apparent damage or loose connection. I would like to test the transducer before I start removing the gauge to look for a wiring problem but I don't know how to verify that the transducer is still working. Raymarine wasn't very helpful. The boat is currently out of the water. Can anyone advise? Thanks. Tim

Ray Marine technicians for the most part do not know how to talk with the simple minded sailor. I recall when the new S1 autopilots came out, they were faulty and denied it. I would keep calling. Finally after about a dozen units, West Marine pulled all the ones they had while other dealers complained too. I told them what was wrong and they finally agreed and sent me a free auto pilot. I hate calling them as they have a tendacy to put you down and for the owners manuals, they could make them easier to read. The only thing I suggest is to look at the lead wires attached to the head unit. make sure they are not corroded and are tight. If you have too, send the head unit to Ray Marine to see if no good. If so, replace the unit. IF it is still good, then order a new transducer.
