Pardon me if I missed anything but a search didn't turn up any recent posts on these batteries. Is there any recent data or tests on the Trojan carbon batteries vs the Oasis Firefly that seems to be the gold standard? I did see a previous comment from Maine Sail that the other brands were not the same carbon technology as the Oasis batteries.

You might find this thread comparing the TrojanSPRE to Firefly battery helpful:

Not even in the same league. The Firefly is carbon foam and still under patent protection. The Trojan just uses a bit of carbon added to the slurry. They may perform marginally better than no-carbon added, but they are absolutely not a Firefly.

In the 2015 Practical Sailor PSoC tests the Northstar TPPL AGM with carbon performed no better than the Odyssey TPPL AGM without carbon. The Firefly beat Lifeline AGM, Odyssey TPPL AGM, Northstar Blue+ TPPL AGM (with carbon) and literally murdered Deka/East Penn AGM performance.

Thanks. That confirms what I was guessing, based on offhand comments I read on various websites.

Think when my current bank of FLA GC2 batteries die the Firefly would be my choice for replacements. One question on the Firefly, how is voltage sag under high loads compared to standard FLA batteries? That seems to be one area where LiFePO excels but not ready to make that investment.

In regards to voltage sag there is no comparison to LiFePO4 but better than FLA deep cycle for sure, and they will charge faster...
