In Ian Nicolson's excellent little book "A Sail for All Seasons" he
suggests an alternate method of trisail clew attachment:
"Sometimes the clew is secured round the main boom with a lashing that
goes right round the stowed mainsail, and then the mainsheet is used in
the ordinary way."
Could one take that a step further and make the trisail foot long
enough to attach the clew to the boom-end clew fitting?
