I learned about this simple gadget yesterday and ordered one. It came to $75 USD including shipping from UK.
Like insurance, a waste of money until the one time your anchor catches on bottom debris, a trap line/cable/mooring chain, or another boat’s anchor rode crosses yours. Then it would be so worth it!

That demo video looks pretty unrealistic. How can you see the chain you are snagged on? What if it's not a chain but a big rock or tree? I've seen anchor retrieval systems that are a big ring that is supposed to slide down the rode and over the shank, but I don't know that they would work on a snag either.

Different situation and use-case.

Here is the thing about a rode over your anchor. What actually happens is that you lift you anchor, notice there is a chain over it once it breaks the surface, and then either lift the rode off with a boat hook or by running a line under the offending rode. Easy Peasy. Easier then fiddling blindly with a hook underwater where you cannot see what is going on. And normally you will have lifted it before you noticed it was there.

Not useless, but barely useful and not needed in the case they demonstrated. That has happened to me a few times, and it was trivially easy to sort out. Also, they ignored the wave and wind effects.

In the case of a log or a rock, it is unlikely that you will be able to work the hook far enough forward on the anchor to do any good at all. wasted time. You might as well dove and see what i going on. If the water is cold, having a wet suit or drysuit aboard is basic contingency seamanship. Not everyone will agree.
