My 1983 O'Day has 2 triangle pieces of wood in the cockpit on the port and starboard side. Does ANYONE have any idea of their purpose? It certainly becomes a conversation piece when visitors sit down at cocktail hour.

Well....1 side of the triangle run vertical up so it would be parallel vertically to the front of the cockpit, and the other angle slightly back towards the stern and the 3 side is not important but you can connect the dots to figure it out. I/we thought it was for a sliding something there but.....what is that something? Does any other 28'ers have these wood pieces?

This is one of those incidents where a picture is worth a 1000 words

I hear ya, but...my boat is 4 hrs away and this was one of those Curious George questions that I figured an O'Day guru would for sure know. Bummer, I was REALLY hoping to put an end to the topic and report back to all of those who ask "what are those wood pieces for?"

Sounds like one of those PO add ons that leave you wondering "what the heck was he thinking"...
