Treatment for Interior Cushions?

Finally, Lady Luck smiled and I stumbled across the boat I immediately knew 'was the one.' While getting myself and this in great shape Cat-22 ready for the water, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on spray treating (or not) the interior cushions with ScotchGard or the like. The objective is to protect and preserve the cushion fabric from use. Also, has anyone ever drycleaned them? Is that worth it to increase their fabric life? Another bonus question: Does anyone secure their anchor rode to anything else besides an existing deck cleat? It hardly seems adequate. The planned sailing areas are the northern SF bays, channels, deltas, and rivers. Thanks and hope to meet some of you guys on the water this year.

Deck Cleats

Run, do not walk to the nearest hardware store and buy yourself (and boat) a piece of 1/8" thick x 1" wide aluminum about 12-18" long. Cut them into sections about 1" longer than the space between your screws in the deck cleats. Then find someone to sit on deck to hold a screwdriver while you take the nuts off the screws underneath. By now you have discovered that the 1/4" plywood is completely shredded underneath. That was your old "backing plate" replace same with newly designed aluminum plate that you of course have drilled a matching pair of 1/4" holes that correspond the cleat holes. While you are at it put some silicon sealant under the cleat to help seal out the elements.
