Treating Potable Water

Hello All:

Does anyone have a good treatment they use for their fresh water tank? We have been using Borax, but I worry that it may be affecting the water. We don't drink it, but we do use it to wash dishes.

i have a california innovations rolling inuslated container in which i bring large bottles of frozen filtered tap water to the boat and use it rather than evenutally stinky loose ice in the ice box. when this water thaws, use it to flush the head - much better than salt water in the holding tank. not a perfect system but i've yet to see a better one. i don't drink from the boat's fresh water tanks.
