Hi everyone, would like some opinions. The traveller on our C27 had been moved from it's original position by the lazarette to a mid boom position just ahead of the the two compartment lids in the cockpit. Have not seen another c27 with this configuration. It is a pain though, we are constantly scraping shins. We do not want to move it back to its old position, or on top of the cabin. What we are considering is moving it forward in the cockpit to the edge of the companionway. This would make it a little trickier to get in the cabin. Our concern is that it changes the angle on the traveller which currently is at right angles to the boom. Should we move the mounting on the boom also? Am interested in hearing what everyone thinks. Thanks

relocating the traveller

move it back to original position next to the lazerette for end boom sheeting, or relocate it to the cabin top for mid-boom sheeting with a riser kit such as sold by Garhaurer. In either position it would be out of the way. If you decide to go with your companionway plan, relocating the boom bail directly over the traveller by moving it forward on the boom will lower the leverage/purchase of the system so you might consider adding another block or two to your mainsheet tackle. http://garhauermarine.com/catalog_process.cfm?cid=34 http://garhauermarine.com/catalog_process.cfm?cid=73
