Does anyone know where I can get a new traveler support bar for my C-22? I broke the bar off the other day and cannot find any good parts dealers. It is the SS 3/8 or 1/2 inch bar that is attached to the transom above the tiller. Thanks
Thanks Jack, I spoke with Catalina direct and they found me a bar for $25.50 that should work. He was very helpful. Also said that someone had modified my traveler by adding a track and using a spinnaker car. Should work just fine after I drill three holes. Thanks again, Tim
Recieved the new traveller bar from Catalina direct, but now they use a larger diameter bar and larger bolts. I can't just bolt it in with the old bolts, and can't replace the bolts because of where it is. I think they install the bar before they put the top and bottom halfs of the boat together, because I can't fit anything up in the transom to tighten or loosen the bolts. I may try Canaveral welding and see if they can make me one to use with the old bolts. Thanks, Tim
I think I remember reading where someone had used their "Dremel" tool to cut access holes thru the cockpit lining to get to those nuts that you can't reach. Then afterward they sealed the holes with wooden plates glued/screwed on so that access could be gained again if ever needed. Or you could re-glass after the project was completed. I'd be concerned about welding the bar while it is on the boat as it might transmit a lot of heat into the fiberglass. Dick
Hi Tim Dick has most it covered. But Catalina Direct also sells Stainless lovered plates that cover the access points. I wold get the plates before i cut the hole so that you can make your hole fit the plate rather than the trying to find a plate to fit the hole. After it is all done it looks nice. The plates are only like $4.50.
