I need to replace the traveler on my 85 Hunter 23. We have a boat US and a west marine here in Pensacola. Does anyone know the catalouge number?

Don't know if it's the same, but...

The traveler and related hardware on my '88 H23 are made by Schaefer. I'm presently upgrading my stock system (with 1-1/8" track) by replacing the pin stops with Schaefer double sheaves and cam cleats on the track ends (they bolt right on) and Harken ball-bearing sheaves (single with swivel head and becket) on the car (less expensive than Schaefer). Since you're going to replace the traveler, why not just buy a kit? Both Harken and Schaefer make traveler kits that will fit, and I have seen H23's with both systems. The kits contain all the hardware you will need, including the track. All you have to buy is the control line. The track can be supplied to the exact length that you need, and if you need it, vertical and horizontal curvature can be added to the track. West Marine and Boat/US carry Harken. JSI/Sailnet carries both Harken and Schaefer. I'm not sure if JSI has all the hardware in their online catalog on line but give it a try at sailnet.com. The URL for Schaefer's website is schaefermarine.com. Good luck. Peter H23 "Raven"

and........

if you purchase a Harken track, it can but drill with the same centers as your current track. Don't know if the other vendors will do this for you. This prevents having to drilling any new holes and sealing any old ones.

Hi Steve

That's why I kept my old track and car. Actually I could have bought the four-wheel Schaefer car with the sheaves built right in, but the $184 was too rich for my blood. I got two ball-bearing Harken sheaves and a shackle to secure them to my existing car for $30. Peter H23 "Raven"
