Do all O'Days have as original equipment the Schaefer slider car(non-ball bearing) with manual Adjustable Stop/Screw Pins? Has anyone modified the system with line-controlled single and double blocks without completely replacing the whole system with the Harken or Schaefer traveler kits? What did you use and how did you set it up? I have a rather unique situation in that I have wheel steering which precludes the ability to make instant traveler adjustments like dumping air. Replacing the Schaefer T-track is out of the question because the inboard Yanmar diesel and all the wiring on the engine compartment-side of the bulkhead make it all but impossible to reach the fastener nuts that secure the track.

O26 new traveler - Harken

I replaced the original Schaefer "traveler" with a Harkin Windward Sheeting Car last year on my 1984 O26. Yes, I had to replace the track with a Harkwn track. Yes, it was a real pain to replace the old track. Yes, I used a couple of bandaids before I was done and even purchased a long extender for my ratchet set to be able to reach the nuts inside while my first mate tightened the screws down. But it can be done. I did it the same year I bought a new mainsail (from D&R). Sweet!!
